"When they let you in, don't forget you're a guest. And if you let them in, remember that is your home." - Suhaib Rumi
It can be challenging to figure out who to let in and when... and who to keep out or at a distance. Just as important, though, is to honor and respect the human "home" of others. Their humanity. Their vulnerability.
Practice non-judgment. Simply hold space without offering advice. Express compassion. Honor confidentiality. Respect boundaries.
When you begin this practice with others, you will connect in more authentic ways. People will begin showing up for you the way you show up for them. You'll be more discerning about those that don't deserve to be in your "home."
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Do the work. Be kind to yourself and others.
People do well if they can.
